Why Wont My Computer Recognize My Coby Music Player?

My coby mp705-4g music player wont be recognized by my computer, I want to know why. I have the windows xp, and everyone in the house plugs in thier ipods and it recongizes it perfectly. I thought that maybe there was something i had to dowmload but ive tried many things.
