Internal Modem
My Compaq Presario CQ 61-410, notebook is not recognizing my Network (all of a sudden). It has worked just fine for 6 months.
Is this because there is an on/off switch located somewhere that has been turned to off?
And, where to I find the switch?

Nope, no off switch. But you can disable the network within Windows or within the system BIOS. The BIOS is set during bootup. The card can be disbaled from either the network neighborhood properties screen or the device manager in control panel..
Is the wireless or hardline? Windows updates can kill networks. Did you just get a bunch of new updates? Try upgrading the network card drivers from the cards properties screen in the network neighborhood properties. Also sometimes rolling the driver back to a previous version can help.
