I am confused about baggage. How many bags can one passanger check free of charge? How much is it for additional bags? What if I choose not to carry-on a bag?

For international flights, you can check 1 bag free of charge. Domestic, you have to pay for any checked bags. However, you can take a carry-on bag onboard free of charge.
