It appears you have an equitable claim to the trailer but the legal title is in the name of the estate. The good news is that the trailer is not considered real estate so it is fairly easy to transfer. The bad news is that you may need someone appointed by the probate court to sign the title. I would start with the decedent's lawyer. I would ask him or her to promptly look into what must be done to effectuate the transfer.
If the value of the estate is less than the voluntary administration cap ($15,000) you may be able to do this in less than one day with their cooperation.
