Boston Area, Someone Posted A Room For Rent For $550.00, In Including Utilities

boston area, someone posted a room for rent for $ 550, including utilites(electric,cable and internet). i saw the apt. liked it and made a deposit for $1000. Now the renter is saying i have to pay for untilites which is about $100.00 extra each month. To make the story short the renter deleted the add and never put and add with out paying the utilities.. can anyone help.. how can i retrive the old add on craigalist.... please help if anyone can thank you....

Sorry you are having a bad experience with a potential landlord. Unfortunately, there is not much anyone can do about something no longer in print, unless you personally got it in writing by the one who placed the ad.

The only way around something like this is through a subpeona ordering all account activity by the one who placed the ad to be presented in a court of law. However, once again, there is not much to use for going to court.

Although, it is doubtful Craigslist can, or will, assist with your request, you may try to contact them and explain what happened. They may have an alternative answer for you. You may use this link Submit a Request, fill in the form and click submit.

There is no guarantee you will recieve an answer you want. However I wish you luck in getting this person flagged for misrepresentation.

When you say renter I'm guessing you mean the apartment owner.

I'm hoping you've stopped payment and are not out the $1000. If not, it's a matter for the police. It's unlikely Craigslist will give you information about its advertisers.
