I Made A Gmail Account To Respond To Craigslit Ad.

when i set up the gmail account it asked for my other email address. I don't want my other email address or my name to show up if the craigslist ad poster wants to see my real name. I'm afraid of internet strangers, thats why I made up a new Gmail account. So why did Gmail ask for my name and other email address?

This does not appear to be a Craigslist question but a Gmail question. Nevertheless here's the answer. Google asks for alternate addresses for help in identifying you should there be a problem down the road. Google does not release the alternate address to anyone, and you don't have to have an alternate address.
