Phone Theft

mine is of theft of a low grade cellular. I have had problems with deactivating the line. i told them with 7 different phone calls. i thought the solution would simply be to assign a new phone number so i can upgrade and take advantage of insurance and data protection with thier 45$ package but when i went to order a new phone presuming i had been upgraded with a different phone number assigned it still refers back to the old ph # on my account that was supposedly changed by one of their only english speaking reps. i am afraid that whoever stole the phone will still get all updates to the old number. and they advised i would be upgraded to the 45 plan along with the new number but they could not ship the phone themselves. im new to cellular phone use but is that possible since the old phone number is still considered my account of record? i am sick of their customer service which is nothing but ill-informed persons with thick accents whom reroute calls with the same demands of requested verifications. is it easy to cancel without incurring problems since my billing is done automatically with a credit card?
