Retrieving Text Messages From Old Acct

Last yr i ended my acct with cricket but i am hoping someone can lead me in the right direction towards the help i need.... i am in a rather vicious domestic violence/ custody battle and my advocate agrees that i need the text messages i recieved from him since they contain multiple threats spanning the entire time i had service with Cricket. I still have the phone. Is there a way i can retrieve my messages even though im not w cricket anymore? Thank you for your time
