Crappy Service

Is it normal for Direct tv to put you off for 7 days for service to a existing 10 year customer?

No, I would suspect that is not normal.  I would call their customer service line directly at 1-800-531-5000.  If you are not satisfied with the customer service representative, ask to speak with a manager and voice your concerns.
