Would A Bad Tcon Board Or Lcd Panel Keep Me From Receiving Direct Tv?

My Phillips LCD TV does not receive a picture. Visits with tech"s at Direct TV did not solve the problem. A tech contracted by Phillips said the problem with the TV was probably a bas TCon board or LCD panel. Would this keep me from receiving a picture from Direct or do I have two problems?
