I Cann't Reprogram Tv Remote. I Have Followed The Directions, No Code Worked

I do not have sound and turn on/off abilities in TV mode. I have an older Mitsubishi TV. I cleared the remote and followed the directions for reprogramming the remote. I tried every code listed on the first page and the next code page. Everthing is working in the Direct TV mode- except the sound. kr
