Creating Private Vlan In Dell 6224 Switch

console(config)# vlan database

console(config-vlan)# vlan xx

console(config)# interface vlan xx

console(config-if)# name xxxxxxxx

 Commands used to configure a port for a specific VLAN:

 console# configure

console(config)# interface ethernet XX

console(config-if)# switchport mode access

console(config-if)# switchport access vlan XX (whatever VLAN you want for interface)

console(config-if)# end

 You would need to run the same commands on every interface or a range of interfaces to set up each VLAN.

 Command to verify set up:

 console# show vlan

When connecting to another switch or router you will need a trunk on that interface to allow all VLANS to move across to the other device.

If you are wanting to communicate from one VLAN to the other then you would need VLAN routing enabled on the switch.

console(config)# interface vlan 100

console(config-if-vlan100)# ip address 172.16.100.1 /24

console(config-if-vlan100)# routing   (enables routing on this specific VLAN)

console(config-if-vlan100)# exit
