Hi gendivagi ,

You certainly can, In order to take full advantage of an E series dock it will require an AC adapter to be connected directly to the dock. With this set up the dock will supply power to the system while connected meaning your system should automatically go into a charging state in the power management settings.

For information regarding E-Port docking connections please see ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_electronics/esuprt_docking_stations/e-prt-pls_User's%20Guide_en-us.pdf

Microsoft has some great guides available to clarify the Power management controls within Windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/power-management

Thanks,

Shawn B
