Insulin Pen Needles

I am diabetic and take several types of insulin injections.  These are all taken using a pen container with attachable small needles---BD pen needles.  Am I going to need something in writing from the doctor to be able to carry these needles on board as I need to use them before snacks or meals and we will be on a twelve hour flight.

This is from Delta's website regarding traveling with medication.  And yes, you will want to have documentation from your doctor if you're traveling with insulin & needles.

Passengers should always bring medication onboard in their carry-on baggage. Never put medicine in your checked baggage. Our airplanes do not have refrigerators onboard, so plan accordingly. If you use needles to inject medication, it is helpful to have a doctor's statement with you in case security officers have any questions. Our personnel will not be responsible for administering medication of any kind.
