Pre-evening Check In

dear sirs, dir madams, I booked fligth dl 4046, but in the morning it is to close to call. So I have two questions: 1) Can I check in preevening ? when start check in, when close check in ? 2) when I must be present at check in, because I am afraid, I will come 15 minute before starting ? 3) can I come earlier and get a opportunity to close my baggage in a safe at jfk airport NYC ? thanks Your Reiner Jens Strobel
