Airlines frequently change their schedules and sometimes that means also changing the type of aircraft. That may be the reason your seat assignment changed, but there could be another reason. I recommend calling Delta and speaking with a reservations agent to find out what exactly happened. You can also check on your return flight seat assignment to make sure it didn't change too.
