Power Usage

I moved into a house in Novemer 1st 2010 the first reading for the meter 53416 the last one on3/11/2011 of 62726. The bill has each reading for each month their total usage total is 11083. When I fiqure it up it comes to 8310 when subtracting the beggining reading from the last one. Plus they did not place a decimal point after the fourth number. Can you explain that to me?
