15 Year Old Flying Alone From London To Berlin

My son is flying from Luton (London) to Berlin alone, he is 15. Both his parents will accompany him to the airport and a friend is meeting him in Berlin. He then returns 2 days later. What documents other than his passport and boarding pass does he need. Any permission letters?
