Wife's Surname 'wrong'

Good evening, we (wife and I) booked flights on easyjet for Tuesday (24th) about 3 months ago. We had just gotten married and she had applied for her new passport with her new surname. Well, there were complications, she hasn't got her passport on time but still has her old. I've logged onto Easyjet to change the name but they are charging £128 (out and in flight and for new flights(!?) although flights are the same). Do you think EJ staff will allow us onboard? Thank you.
