The offsite ads are not mandatory for all sellers. The sellers earning more than 10000USD in one year they have to pay for the ads. However the mandatory offsite ads will lead to increase in cost of products.

You can opt out of the off site advertising, however I tried it and found it was profitable. I made $250.00 in sales and the advertising expenses were about $23.00
