Vacuum Gave Off Extremely High-pitched Screech From The First Time It. Unusable.
Any way to stop the high-pitched scream? It has been unusable unless I use earplugs every time I use it. It actually sounds dangerous and it sounds like schrapnel is about to be flung!

A quick Google search reveals that several other users have complained about a high-pitched noise like the one you're describing coming from Eureka vacuums. If the vacuum is new, I would suggest returning it to the vendor you bought it from, or to Eureka for repair if it's under warranty.
Without hearing the noise myself, it's impossible to troubleshoot, but a likely cause could be a bearing or bushing, or something in the motor itself.
