My Facebook Account Just Disappeared. Help

I log onto facebook daily. Today I logged on, it asked me for a security code. It instructs to use my cell to receive a security code to enter to verify this is my facebook. This was random but I did it. However when I click the "Send security code to mobile" a beachball appears on my mac. The internet is working perfectly. My cell phone number has been mine for 12 years. However I am not able to click to get a security code sent to my cell. Without it my facebook is gone. My friend just tried to look my fb page up as we write often, she said it is completely gone. Please please help! And why is fb doing this to my page???? I have nothing bad on there, its not misused. Its just my social network facebook page. Thanks Michelle
