Geo Track Tracks Old And New

I have the geo track train set bought for my grandson. The track is the one  that doesnt have the ridge in the middle. I called twice and Ask if the remote cars from pixar cars will run on that track I have already purchased two of them. The answer I got was that they will i hope so because the new tracks even the train has that extra ridge in the middle. The reason I know the track is differant because I bought the cars track set with the remote car for him to play with here. I really dont want to open the set i bought for christmas to try it out.
