If you think it's in the correct way, try revving the engine after the vehicle warms up. Sometimes a new thermostat will stick a little until it opens for the first time. You can also try tapping on the thermostat housing with the wooden handle of a hammer to get it to open the first time.
If none of these ideas work, then the problem could be that your heater core is plugged up. The heater core is under the passenger side dash area. You can see the hoses that go into it in the engine compartment. The hoses are on the passenger side firewall.
