Re Lighting My Gas Water Heater

I need the directions on how to re light my gas water heater

Shut the thermostat off and leave it in this position for a good 5 to ten minutes.

Now it can be turned to pilot and the button pushed down and held in that

position while depressing the button for the electronic pilot ignition on the side of the thermostat 'box'. If you bend down to the 'viewer' you should be able to see the pilot light through the viewing glass. If it is on, continue to hold the pilot light button down for about one minute and then let go. The pilot light should continue to burn. As long as it continues to burn then the next step is to see if when turning on the thermostat the burner comes on and stays on.
