Genie Silentmax 1000

We have installed the whole system, but when we open or close the door, it will only go half way up or half way down. It's like it is connected to the belt at the wrong place? It is also moving very slow, but I assume that is one reason it will be more quiet than other doors. Please help...I have a friends son helping me do this and we can't figure out what is wrong. Thank you for your time.
