Why Has Google Now Switched Me To Avg? And Why Is Google No Longer My Home Page?

It's not Google who switched you to AVG it's AVG who did that, in order for you to make Google as your homepage here's what to do:

For Internet Explorer-

Go to Tools --> then click on internet options, where it says "to create homepage tabs....you wil see an address in your case avg.com delete that and type the Google address www.google.com

and then click ok

(if you can't see the menu bar right click on where the bars are below where you write web addresses and click menu bar)

For Firefox go to options which is on the Firefox menu bar (the new one is orange on your top left)

Go to General and type the Google address and then click ok

 

For Google Chrome

Click on the spanner on your top right near the address bar, click on settings.

Under "Appearance" which is on the settings page, under where it says themes there is an address in your case avg change that to Google by typing the Google address

Under where it says search (on the same page) if it says AVG secure search you can change that to Google aswell by clicking on the tab where you'll see a black arrow pointing down close to the AVG secure search scroll down and choose Google.

 

Same with Opera and Safari 

 

You can change your homepage back to google. If you are an internet explorer user go to the top toolbar look for the Home Icon, click on "add or change home icon". to edit your home icon.
