How To Make My Existing Google Page Into A Google+ Page.

My boss currently have a standard google page in his name.  However, he asked add more content to the page for the business.  He wanted me to change his personal name for the existing page to the business name.  I tried  but could not change name.  I noticed at this time there is a google+ page for businesses.  How can i use the info I already set up in standard google for a google+ account without reduing it all over?
