How Can One Get Back All Emails That May Vanish Mysteriously From Gmail Servers?

Apple has just launched OS X Maverick, their latest operating system for Macs. I downloaded and installed it on my iMac desktop. I have four separate email accounts with Gmail for separate specific purposes. When I opened the Mail application after installing the new operating system, I could not find any of my emails. I then checked my email accounts on the three different web browsers, one after the other. I found all emails missing. I contacted the Apple help line, where a senior engineer, after much investigation, told me that for some unknown reason all my email accounts' content has been deleted from the Gmail servers. Apple is at a loss to explain what could have gone wrong, but something strange did happen. Similar problem did not arise with one Yahoo mail account I have. I report this to you for two reasons. 1) To protect other users and 2) to request you to help me by retrieving my precious emails from gmail backup. Apple is also looking into the issue with their software.

Unfortunately it sounds like you had the option to delete your messages from the server after downloading them to your mail client enabled. You can check this for yourself by going here:

https://support.google.com/mail/answer/13290?hl=en

If you had that enabled then it would have automatically deleted the emails from the server after they were downloaded to your computer. There is no way to retrieve them if this is the case.
