New Flow Switch, Now Showing Cell Missing Message.

I just installed a new flow switch because my previous one was 5 years old and I felt it was time to update with a new one. After I've installed it and made sure that the arrows line up with the flow of water I am getting a message that says the cell is missing. When I put back the old one it still continues to say the cell is missing. What could have possibly went wrong during the exchange?
