So Is Backwash The Same As Waste On My Pump
Needing to vacuum pool on water mode but put pump don't have that setting so is backwash the same thing

No, backwash is not the same thing as vacuuming on waste mode. Backwashing is a process of cleaning the sand in your pool filter by reversing the flow of water. This removes any dirt, debris, or algae that has built up in the sand. Vacuuming on waste mode, on the other hand, simply sends the water that is being vacuumed directly to the drain, bypassing the filter.
The Hayward VL Series Sand Filter Systems do not have a dedicated vacuum on waste mode setting. However, you can achieve the same effect by setting the multiport valve to the "waste" position. This will send the water that is being vacuumed directly to the drain, bypassing the filter.
To vacuum your pool with a Hayward VL Series Sand Filter System, follow these steps:
Turn off the pump.
Set the multiport valve to the "waste" position.
Attach the vacuum head to the vacuum hose.
Vacuum the pool, being sure to avoid the skimmer.
When you are finished vacuuming, turn the pump back on and set the multiport valve back to the "filter" position.
It is important to note that vacuuming on waste mode can lower the water level in your pool. Be sure to check the water level regularly and add water as needed.
