Why Is My Hp Deskjet 3070a Printing My Photos In Very Dull Colours?

hi ive set up my printer as stated in the manual but its printing my photos in a very very dull almost monotone colour and im using correct cartriges and high quality photo paper which i think im just wasting now how can i make it print my colours as vivid as it says on the box ?
