Printing-get Message That 'spool Area Full'-hp 8600,macos10.6.8.what Is This?

computer Mac OS 10.6.8, printing on new HP 8600. Is this affecting my printing, which seems very slow. how do I fix it. printer is new. should I return printer?

I was getting this same message, but what HP was really trying to say was thet the printer was low on ink! At least replacing the cartridges that showed low (but not empty) levels eliminated the message and go it printing again. Hope yours is as simple.
