Reasons for Printer Margins:
Mechanical Limitations: Laser printers have internal mechanisms (rollers, fusers, etc.) that need space to grab and handle the paper. This necessitates a small unprintable margin around the edge.
Print Reliability: Printing to the absolute edge can increase the risk of toner smudging or paper jams, leading to messy output.
What you CAN do:
Check Your Application's Settings:
Many programs (like Word, Adobe Acrobat) have a "Borderless Printing" or "Scale to Fit" option in their print settings. See if your application offers this.
Important: Using this might slightly stretch or distort the document to make it reach the edges.
Adjust Page Margins:
Minimize the margins within your document to the smallest your application allows. This will maximize the printable area.
Print on Larger Paper:
If possible, print your document on a slightly larger paper size and then carefully trim the edges to achieve the desired effect.
Note: The HP P2055dn printer specification sheet usually states the minimum printable margins. You can find this information on the HP website or in the printer's manual.
