Tailgate Switch Doesn't Operate

The automatic tailgate will not open or close the tailgate if the switch on the tailgate (just above the license plate) is activated. Also, the tailgate will not close if the tailgate switch (on the bottom of the tailgate) is activated when the tailgate is open. The tailgate will open and close with the key fob and with the button inside the vehicle next to the drivers left knee.
