You didn't by any chance remove the junk mail filters several years ago did you?
I suggest that you read this article How to Filter Mail from Unknown Senders to the Junk Folder. The problem is that it requires you to continue to do something on the order of what you have been doing.
My guess is that since there is no block to these emails that they are from either multiple senders or from the same spamer-sender who constantly generates new email addresses.
You may need a stronger approved Sender's list in order to divert those unwanted emails from your Inbox.
To send mail from senders you have not approved to the junk folder in IncrediMail automatically:
- Select Tools | Message Rules... from the menu.
- Click Add....
- Make sure the filter reads If Received from unapproved sender then Move it to.
- Click the ... button.
- Highlight the Junk Mail folder.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Click Close.
I don't know if you will be able to select several of these junk emails at one time by holding the Ctrl key as you highlight them but if your can and if it works, it will be worth it in a week or so.
The other, easier method is simply to approve the emails you want to save and then send the rest to the Junk Mail folder.
If those unwanted emails all have the same Subject it is easy to set up a Mail Filter.
- Select Tools | Message Rules... from the menu in IncrediMail.
- Click the Add... button.
- Compose your message rule with a criterion following If and an action after then. (Use the drop-down menus at this point to select the action=then)
- Click OK.
- Then click Close
- Here's a link to a screen shot article walking you through with pictures. There are 4 pages to this article - 4 screen shots
This is pretty standard when setting up a POP3 filter but it can really be a nuisance. Eventually you will be rewarded by a return to normalcy.
Here are a few more suggestions about adjusting your settiings to eliminate positive feedback to the spammer.
- Never send read receipt
- Notify me for each read receipt
- Always send a read receipt
So let's look at option 2 which is the one you might want to consider although I prefer #1
Notify me for each read receipt is the preferred choice.
- To configure: go to tools
- Click options
- Click Receipts tab
- Click the appropriate choice, either #1 or #2
If you want to read lots more you can go to IncrediMail Anti-Spam or Junk eMail Features
I'm sorry, I know that I gave you TMI and it may feel operwhelming but I think you need some options. You have an email service which has been a companion for years and it would be a pity to be driven away from a space which has given you enjoyment in the past because someone doesn't respect your privacy.
