Engine Heat Issue With 2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas

Does the 2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas Engine get extremely hot. After 45 minutes of driving home from dealership, I could not even touch the hood it was so hot. Also 4.5 hours later the engine was still warm? We have a bumper to bumper Sonic warranty but don't know if this is covered. Thanks
