The tow haul button on a 2011 Jeep Liberty is located on the center console, to the left of the gear shifter. It is a small, rectangular button with the words "TOW/HAUL" printed on it.
To activate tow haul mode, simply press the button once. The tow haul indicator light will illuminate in the instrument cluster to indicate that tow haul mode has been activated. Pressing the button a second time will restore normal operation.
Tow haul mode is designed to improve performance and reduce the potential for transmission overheating or failure when towing a trailer, carrying a heavy load, or driving in hilly areas. When operating in tow haul mode, transmission upshifts are delayed, and the transmission will automatically downshift (for engine braking) during steady braking maneuvers.
It is important to note that tow haul mode is not a substitute for proper towing procedures. Always be sure to consult your owner's manual for specific towing recommendations.
