Your Kenmore HE5t washer's F21 light indicates a protracted drain issue. Your washer's display will show F21 if the water draining time exceeds the 8-minute threshold. That means that dirt, debris, or whatever else clogs the drain line or the pump.

The F21 error code on a Kenmore HE5t washer indicates that there is a problem with the machine's drain pump or the drain pump filter. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
  1. Turn off and unplug the washer from the power source.
  2. Check the drain hose for any kinks, bends or clogs. Straighten out any kinks or bends, and clear any clogs that you find.
  3. Check the drain pump filter for any blockages. To access the filter, you'll need to remove the lower front panel of the washer. Once you've removed the panel, you should see the filter located near the bottom right-hand corner of the machine. Remove the filter and clean out any debris you find.
  4. Check the drain pump itself for any obstructions or damage. To do this, you'll need to remove the hoses connected to the pump and inspect the inside of the pump for any debris or damage.
  5. If you don't find any blockages or damage, the drain pump may be malfunctioning and will need to be replaced.

Once you've completed the necessary troubleshooting steps, you can plug the washer back in and run a cycle to see if the error code has been resolved. If you're still having trouble, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair service for assistance.
