Help Amazon Fire Blank Except Top Date Page

I bought my kindle fire in 2012 has been very good and reliable till yesterday &/17/15I set it to recharge and in a few hours I tried it and the front page wiith date comes in well butwhen I swipe to go to next page all is black. nothing seems to be on it. could it have been wiped out or what? I did once get a notation saying do you wish to close out program but only once it has not appeared again ? what to do

It's doubtful that you wiped the device without realizing it. Try resetting it according to the troubleshooting guide:

Restart your device press and hold the power button for 40 seconds and then release. After the device has completely turned off, press the power button to restart your Kindle Fire. If your Kindle Fire is still unresponsive, try charging your Kindle Fire before trying to restart thedevice again.
