Regular Vs Convection Oven

W hen I am using the regular oven there is a fan constantly blowing in the back of the oven. It seems that the same fan blows for convection (although I haven't really used convection for much). Should that fan be blowing all the time when I am using just the regular oven? Mostly it is bothersome for me as I wear glasses and they are always getting fogged up. Thanks. Enjoying stove otherwise.
