Does The Fax Device In The Printer Work Over Ip?

We have a VOIP phone system. Can the built in fax device utilize this or do we need to have a traditional phone line?

It should be able to use the VOIP phone line, however we've found that 95%+ of the time it does not work. The reasons behind this are technical, however it is mostly because of the way VoIP phones compress a signal to fit it over the internet, and this often prevents a fax signal from going through.

The best option is to get a "hard" phone line, or an online fax service.
