Usb Interface With My Onyx 1640i To Reaper

My computer does not have a firewire interface only a USB, the ONYX 1640i only has a firewire port. I have tried using a firewire to USB cable to connect them. The computer is telling me that it is not recognizing the USB connection. I'm using Reaper as my software to capture the sound. Is there a specific driver I need to go from firewire to USB? Can you send me the link?Thank youAnthony Koprowski

Unfortunately, it is not possible to convert a Firewire signal to USB using a cable, as the two interfaces are not compatible.

To connect your Mackie Onyx 1640i to a computer with USB, you will need to use an audio interface that has USB connectivity. You can connect the Mackie Onyx 1640i to the audio interface using its analog outputs and then connect the audio interface to the computer using USB.

There are many audio interfaces available that have USB connectivity, such as the Focusrite Scarlett series or the PreSonus AudioBox series. You will need to select an audio interface that has the number of inputs and outputs you require for your recording needs.
