Closed Captioning
I recently purchased this unit. After setting it up (for regular analog cable) I discovered in the manual, that closed captioning does not function unless the incoming signal is digital. I then got digital service from my cable provider, but the cable company will not set up the DVR/DVD for me because it is not their equipment. The service man however did tell me to connect the incoming cable service first to the DVR/DVD, and then another coax cable to the digital converter box. This connection method still does not display closed captioning. So I connected the incoming cable first to the digital converter box, and from that to the DVR/DVD with a coax cable. This does not display closed captioning either. When I use only the converter box directly into the television, the closed captioning is displayed just fine. Can you please explain the proper method to connect the devices so that I can get closed captioning displayed when using the DVR/DVD? I do have an HD television with HDMI and would like to use the HDMI connection. Thank you.
