The way this works is that the phone number routes to the MagicJack data center. From there is gets converted to VOIP (voice over IP) which encapsulates the analog voice signal inside digital network packets.
Once encapsulated the packets get routed through the Internet to your house the same as anything else from the Internet. The routing is managed by the settings in your MagicJack account. Your ISP assigns you a TCP/IP address. Usually a temporary one that will change (AT&T changes them every 15 minutes). The MagicJack tells the MagicJack servers what
There are many reasons why the routing may fail. If your Internet address changes and that change is not translated to MagicJack it will fail. If there is congestion on your Internet connection it can fail.
If you can call OUT using the MagicJack then it "should" work. If not try power cycling your Internet router and then try again.
As Odin stated, MagicJack support is less than wonderful. They have an online knowledge base and you can get chat sessions with a tech but that's about it.

magicJack does not offer more than the most feeble customer support; sorry.
You may reach magicJack by writing:
Ymax Communications
PO BOX 6785
West Palm Beach, FL 33405
You can also try phoning them, at 281-404-1551 or 561-594-2140.
If all else fails, you can dispute any payment with your credit card provider or complain to the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, at 850-488-2221. If it's within 30 days, you can return the product using these instructions.
