How To Load

I am renting a house that has a maytag washer in it and I am not sure how to load the machine so that it will spin and drain properly. The first load or two I did, worked fine, but not it not getting the water out of the clothes and leaves a little water in the bottom of the machine. There is no manual on how to work the machine, so please help.
