There are numerous disk repair programs out there that are free.
If running a disk repair program fixes your eror then fine. If you have a hard error which cannot be repaired then you will need a disk recovery program to obtain your OST file. I would try the simple diags first and go on from there. Post another question if you do not have success.
Hope that helps.

Open "Start" menu -> "Run" -> Launch the Scanpst.exe (Inbox Repair Tool) by typing the path of the tool i.e. drive name: \Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\Locale ID\scanpst.exe and click OK -> A message box pops-up -> Enter the file name and the path of the corrupt PST file and click on "Start" button.
However the inbox repair tool takes long time to fix corrupt PST file depending on the file size and the rate of corruption. The tool also fails to repair severely corrupt PST file and by further using this tool will result in email loss and deletion. So if the first two remedies don't work then it is highly recommended to use

First of all, users should ensure that files are not hidden. To enable the Hidden files view, perform this:
Press Windows+R and type Control Panel. In the Control Panel, open Folder Options and click View tab. Now, check whether Show hidden files, folders and drive option is selected or not. If not, select the button and click OK.
Now, follow the steps one-by-one.
- Open the Microsoft Outlook application in your system.
- Go to the File tab and click the Info tab in the menu.
- Now click on Account Settings>Account Settings.
- Click the Data Files option in the opened wizard and copy the location of your PST file.
- Now, close down or exit the Outlook application and open SCANPST.exe (for your Outlook version, present in C drive)
- Enter the earlier copied PST file location (in step 4) in the given space and then click Start.
- A message will pop up asking to save a backup of this PST file. Click OK to continue.
- Once the scanning process is successful and the errors are fixed, try accessing the mails in Outlook application.
The SCANPST.exe method is easy to execute but not feasible for large sized and highly corrupted PST files as it may take enough time without any satisfactory results. Users failing in this method can also try the next manual solution to fix this error.
