The next step is to relieve fuel pressure going to the filter. You do that by removing the fuel pump relay fuse and then cranking the engine a few times. If the car starts and continues to run, you did not pull the correct fuse. If it starts and then stalls, you got the right fuse. If you do not know where the fuse is, check your owner's manual for it's location. It should be in the engine compartment, usually on the driver's side.
Once the pressure is relieved, removing the filter is easy. Place a pan or something else under the filter to catch any fuel that spills out when you remove it. It is connected on both ends by threaded male connections. Once it is removed, just tighten the new one in place. Be sure to check the connections for any leaks after you start the car. If it's leaking, tighten it up a little more.
Make sure you replace the fuel pump relay fuse after you are done. It should start right up and you're all set.
