best is to return the item and it would be marked as uncalimed

The name of the recipient on a MoneyGram transaction could necessitate a change on the following grounds:

If the receiver had reached or exceeded his/her threshold in resident country. MoneyGram policy has it that there's a maximum amount you can receive or even send within a quarter.

If the receiver name is wrongly captured by the sender agent, the receiver cannot be paid. Correction must be effected to align or conform with the receiver's name on the beneficiary's ID card at the payment location.

However, where the name cannot be corrected as a result of irregularities it's either you change the beneficiary name outrightly so another receiver can pick the money.

To change the name kindly pick your ID card if you're the sender, then proceed to the agent location and request for a change of receiver name. In some cases they'll rather cancel the transaction and refund your money than effect an outright name change other than correction..

If the agent gives you an option to change the name, then supply them with the new beneficiary name alongside the reference number and your own ID card to ascertain the transaction was actually in your order in the first place.

If you choose to cancel the transfer you'll most probably forfeit the charge you paid initially.

Yes, you may return to the location where you initiated the transaction and ask them to Amend the beneficiary name of your Reference Number.

They would be able to do that as long as the Transaction Status is still AVAILable
