Netflix just posted to their blog that new price changes are coming soon. Basically what they are doing is adding a DVD only option and raising the price on all of the DVD + Streaming packages by separating them into two different packages. Streaming only plan prices will remain the same, while the DVD packages will see a price increase.  Personally for me this means come Spetember I will be paying $15.98/month for unlimited streaming and one DVD versus the $9.99/month I currently pay. I urge you all to log into your account and see how your rates will be affected.

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming), for $7.99 a month.

The price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). For new members, these changes are effective immediately; for existing members, the new pricing will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

Yes - there are a few options for plans that do not have the streaming component and are limited to just DVD delivery. You can change your plan by logging in to your Netflix account and then clicking on the "Your Account & Help" link on the top-right of the page. You will then see a link on the right-side of the subsequent page for "Change Plan". At the time of this writing, the DVD-only options include:

Unlimited

  • 1 DVD out at a time - $7.99/mo
  • 2 DVDs out at a time - $11.99/mo

Limited

  • 1 DVD out at a time (limit 2/mo) - $4.99/mo

Hope this helps.
